Here are ten things you can do to improve your writing EVERY DAY! ๐งก
๐ Choose a theme that's close to your heart and write a paragraph on it everyday for two weeks. Paragraph word limit- 200 words.
๐ Read a short story everyday and jot down the expressions, figures of speech, passages or thoughts that have appealed to you most.
๐ Choose a particular word everyday, and learn five new synonyms of that word. Make sure you also check how you can use a certain word in a sentence otherwise it might stick out like a sore thumb where it's not apt.
๐ Keep a journal. Journalling random thoughts and ideas as and when they come to you shall serve as excellent fuel for the dry season.
๐ Write long texts. When you're texting your close friends, spend a little more time and make a little more effort to write a text which has at least three or four lines, instead of the usual 'K', 'Hmm', 'Yeah', 'Ttyl', 'LOL', 'XD'.
๐ Be a good listener. Let other people talk about themselves and listen to them. Insight is extremely important when it comes to developing characters.
๐ Be empathetic. Don't jump to conclusions. Be open to both sides of a narrative.
๐ Make a list of your favourite words, idioms, proverbs and phrases. Consult the list when you're writing something.
๐ When you're texting or talking to a friend, be attentive to the way they articulate their feelings. It will help you write killer dialogues.
๐ Share your write-ups with other readers, get valuable feedback and work on them. The more you let people read your work, the more you understand your drawbacks and plus points.
Happy Writing! ๐งก
